The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Texas Ranger Division is continuing its investigation into the incident that occurred on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the DPS Driver License Office in Brenham, Texas, located at 975 U.S. Highway 290.
The driver involved, 42-year-old Clenard Parker from Chapel Hill, is currently held in Washington County Jail. He faces charges including three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, one count of evading arrest or detention causing serious bodily injury, and one count of unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Six individuals sustained injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals. Unfortunately, one victim, Bobby Huff, 78, was airlifted to CHI St. Joseph Regional Hospital – Bryan, where he later passed away from his injuries on Friday.
Presently, two victims remain in critical but stable condition. The investigation, led by the Texas Rangers, is ongoing, and no further details are available for release at this time.
As a result of the incident, the Brenham Driver License Office will remain closed for an unspecified duration. Alternative offices in Bryan, Hempstead, and Caldwell are available for customers.
Those with appointments at the Brenham Office will receive communication from the DPS Driver License Division regarding rescheduling.
