Lynchburg Athletics confirmed today that Frank Csorba, a top distance runner, died. He was 23 years old. Csorba was one of the NCAA's top distance athletes at the Division Three level, earning six First-Team All-American awards during three seasons of competition.
The Lynchburg standout ran numbers of 4:08 (mile), 8:06 (3k), 13:56 (5k), and 29:37 (10k), establishing him as one of the most dynamic and competitive D3 distance runners in the country.
This winter, Csorba helped the Lynchburg men win the DMR national championship. Csorba was instrumental in the Hornets' recent success with their distance program.
Acting as one of Lynchburg's primary building components in recent years, the dynamic ace contributed national-level scoring as early as 2021 and covered a wide range of the team's squad as they rose through the Division Three rankings.

The athletic department at Lynchburg said, "Details regarding a memorial service will be communicated once available, and resources for the campus community have been provided."
The cause of death has not been made public. He was a fantastic person. A true sportsman. He was deeply committed to the sport and worked tirelessly to achieve his goals. This was a heartbreaking loss. I can't imagine how the Lynchburg squad felt, as he was a valuable member of the team and a recognized leader. Run in peace, Frank.
