A tragic event unfolded in Chanhassen on Friday afternoon, as authorities discovered the lifeless body of 33-year-old Erik Berger from St. Paul in a garage. The discovery prompted a police investigation into what officials have characterized as a "violent assault."
According to the Carver County Sheriff's Office, Berger was found on the ground of a residence on the 8100 block of Audubon Road by his parents around 4 p.m. Despite their attempts to revive him with CPR, Berger was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a puzzling twist, a person of interest in connection to Berger's death, identified as Daniel Balto, was later discovered deceased at a residence in Minneapolis. The circumstances surrounding Balto's death remain undisclosed.
Authorities have chosen not to disclose further details regarding the circumstances of either individual's passing, pending the results of autopsies. Their identities are expected to be revealed at a later time.
"The sheriff's office believes this incident was isolated, and there is no further threat to the public," stated the Carver County press release, offering reassurance to the community amidst the ongoing investigation.
