Police in Glendale say a 13-year-old boy who was riding his bike and was hit by a car has died. The accident took place on April 11 in the evening near 47th and Northern roads. The boy, whose name was Elias "Eli" Bizzle, was taken to the hospital but later died on April 23, cops said.

Police in Glendale say the teen was riding his bike with some other kids when they started to cross the street. The victim was in charge of the group when he was hit by a car that didn't stop after the crash.

Joshua Holbert, the driver, who is 27 years old, left the scene of the accident but was later caught. He is being charged with many things, such as accident causing death or major injury, failing to stop, and more.

While Eli was still in the hospital, ABC15 talked to his family. We were told he was a "good kid and a good brother."

"The person who hit him hurt him, and all he did was cross the street," she said. A lot of people wore Eli's favorite color, red, and met near the crash site to show their support in the days after the event.

Vicky Cortez, Eli's aunt, told ABC15 that the large crowd sent a message to the community and to Eli. "Don't give up; you're not alone; a whole army is praying for you," she told him. The family set up a GoFundMe page to get money to help pay for hospital bills and other costs.
