Peter Kevoian Obituary : Peter Kevoian Broadway Death : American radio host Bob Kevoian’s Brother Dies

The brother of American radio broadcaster Bob Kevoian, Peter Kevoian, was a gifted performer on Broadway. He passed away recently.

Directed by Michael Cacoyannis, who previously directed the film "Zorba the Greek," Peter Kevoian made his Broadway debut in a revival of ZORBA (Revival Cast Recording) alongside renowned actor Anthony Quinn and Academy Award Winner, Lila Kedrova.

Before starring alongside Rock Hudson, Oscar winner Claire Trevor, and Leif Erikson in the National Tour of John Brown's Body, directed by John Houseman, he got his Equity start in Joe Layton's musical adaptation of GONE WITH THE WIND.

Along with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman, he was a member of the Original Broadway cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, which is currently the longest running play in Broadway history. He also toured as "Herod" in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR alongside Carl Anderson, Natalie Toro, and Sebastian Bach.

His performances as "The Wizard" in WICKED ran for a year with the Chicago company, and he was "Myron" and "Manfred" in the Canadian cast of Sunset Boulevard. This is the original Canadian cast recording starring Diahann Carroll and Rex Smith.

He was in several productions in the Los Angeles area, including CATS (as "Gus, Growltiger and Bustopher Jones"), LES MISERABLES, and RAGTIME. Since he played "Tateh" in RAGTIME's Chicago Company production, he was considered for a Joseph Jefferson Award.

In regional credits, you can find roles such as "Screwtape" in Chicago's THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS, "Fagin" in OLIVER alongside Stephanie J. Block and Martin Vidnovic, "The Major General" in THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, "Cladwell B. Caldwell" in URINETOWN at the Weston Playhouse, and "Che" in EVITA at the Santa Barbara CLO.

He was honored with two Drama Logue Awards: one for his portrayal of "The Typesetter" in PERSONALS for Actors Alley in North Hollywood, and another for his portrayal of "Tevye" in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF for the Santa Barbara CLO.

In addition to guest spots on shows including ER, MATLOCK, ALL MY CHILDREN, and THE GUARDIAN, he has recurring parts as District Attorney Jim Aoli on the Emmy-winning LA LAW, Morty Friedman on ALL MY CHILDREN, and Judge Tonelli on THE GUARDIAN. The Actors' Equity Association has been my proud home since 1973.
